windows programs should have no problems using this (c:/foo/bar) path
representation.
The affected macros are $@, $*, $>, $?, $<, $&, $^ and $(PWD),
$(MAKEDIR) and $(TMD).

Content of $(PWD) with .WINPATH set: c:/temp
